'Rapidly retreating Ladakh glacier may create new lakes'

Parkachik glacier in Ladakh, one of the main sources of water for villagers of Parkachik village in Kargil, has "retreated by 200 metres in the past 50 years, from 1971 to 2021", according to a study by glaciologists from various institutes, including Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun.
