Recently, a petitioner filed a case in the Supreme Court claiming that the chutney has a medicinal value as it contains formic acid, protein, Calcium, Vitamin B12, and Zinc and its efficacy needs to be ascertained as a cure of COVID-19.The apex court said that it cannot direct for use of traditional knowledge or home remedies as a cure of COVID-19 for the whole of the country and dismissed the plea seeking direction for use of 'Red Ant Chutney' as a cure for the deadly virus.
