1971 war: Colonel G S Brar lost finger to Pakistan firing

Colonel G S Brar (retired), 79, is unable to sustain a grip with his left hand and lost the index finger on the hand 50 years ago, but he doesn’t bother much about it. “It is a matter of pride,” says the Army officer who was posted in the volatile Chamb sector of Jammu and Kashmir when the 1971 war with Pakistan took place.
